Digitising templates in the marine industry
Full steam ahead
iDigit is used in a wide range of applications in the marine industry, some of which overlap with the composites industry.

Why iDigit ?
To meet the requirements and challenges brought by the various types of materials used as templates in the marine industry, we tap into iDigit’s high adaptation capabilities as detailed in the following examples

Hull
In many cases, boat hulls are made of composite material which involves digitising and cutting carbonfiber templates, for which iDigit provides an optimal choice of digitising.

Depending on whether the digitised material is the carbonfiber sheet itself, the peels or hand-made templates made of a mixture of card and masking tape, the iDigit board can be either white or black, to provide an ideal contrast.

Sails

Sails are often digitised using old sails that need to be reproduced or existing legacy templates that can be made of various sheet material.

Depending on the size of the boat and the type of the sail, templates can be large in size which requires use of iDigit XL.
Decks

Luxury yachts often have their decks fitted with special non-skid material for comfort, safety and aesthetics purposes. Templating is often made using a marker to trace the shapes on transparent or semi-transparent sheet materials such as mylar, or films
Yacht Interiors

One of iDigit’s main uses in the marine industry is for digitising patterns for the luxury interiors of yachts. This sub-segment of the marine industry has similarities with the use cases of iDigit in the furniture industry.

In addition to the soft furnishing, our clients also digitise plywood templates for the structural elements of their yachts.

Another use case of iDigit in the marine industry is the digitisation of the dashes and control panels which usually entails templates with internal cut-outs for the gauges, buttons and levers.
